Jonathan “Jon” Rankin, a devoted husband and proud father to a daughter currently attending Suffolk public schools, embodies the spirit of community and dedication. Jon is a current resident of Whaleyville, he himself graduated from Lakeland High School. Jonathan has a deep-rooted connection to this community. His passion for outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting, and playing pickleball, reflects his appreciation for nature and the simple joys in life. Jonathan's commitment to the safety and wellbeing of Suffolk's residents is evident in his role as the Chairman of the Safety Audit Committee, where he works tirelessly to ensure the community’s school environments are secure and supportive for all.

Jon’s commitment to our community and its future generations is deeply personal. “I firmly believe in the value of core education--reading, writing, mathematics, and sciences--as the foundation for all students to succeed. My campaign is rooted in the principle of providing a quality education in a safe and healthy environment, free from politics, worldly views or ideologies, and accessible to every child in our district.” It’s about getting back to basics and ensuring that our schools are environments where learning is paramount, and all students have the opportunity to thrive based on a solid educational foundation. Together, we can focus on what truly matters: preparing our children for a bright future with the essential skills they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving world.

Jon extends this commitment to fostering a strong partnership between schools and families. Encouraging active parental involvement is key to our children's success both in and out of the classroom.
